Account verification, teacher identity KYC and the teacher subscription
Four separate things: your account's identity check, a teacher's identity KYC, the teacher subscription and any credentials a teacher chooses to publish.
Account identity check
Account verification concerns the identity details submitted for your account and is checked against your account details. It applies to the account, whatever roles it holds. Completing account registration does not itself grant permission to publish or host QSquads.
Teacher identity KYC
A teacher completes a separate identity KYC: a real photo of themselves used as their profile photo, and a clear copy of their own original passport or accepted national ID card. The accepted documents depend on nationality and issuing country. No separate portrait or KYC selfie is required, and no teaching licence, degree or teaching certificate is required. The identity document is private and is not shown on the teacher's profile. When KYC is approved, the teacher's profile can show "Identity checked".
Teacher subscription
Teaching access also requires an enrolled teacher subscription with a saved payment card. Basic is free through 30 June 2027, then USD 5 per month from 1 July 2027; a card is required even during the free period. Plan 2 and Plan 3 are Coming soon. The subscription state is separate from identity KYC: saving a card does not verify identity, and a subscription is not a verification or a professional endorsement.
Optional credentials
A teacher may describe qualifications or experience on their profile. These are optional and must be accurate. Adding a credential does not mean edsoQ has verified it.
What a result means
Each check means only what it describes. Identity KYC does not verify teaching qualifications, accreditation, teaching quality, every profile statement, future conduct or learning outcomes. Follow the status and correction requests shown in your account.
